First​ round​ of​ ABA​ ITF​ Junior​ Series​ 2019​ held​ successfully

The​ first​ round​ of​ ABA​ Bank​ ITF​ Junior​ Series​ 2019​ tournament​ finished​ successfully​ at​ the​ National​ Tennis​ Center​ in​ Phnom​ Penh.​ Held​ on​ February​ 16​ –​ March​ 2,​ the​ tournament​ attracted​ more​ than​ 100​ players​ from​ 20​ different​ countries​ to​ compete​ for​ the​ trophies​ and​ to​ earn​ ITF​ World​ Junior​ Ranking​ Points.​ Cambodia​ in​ these​ events​ was​ represented​ by​ 19​ players.

After​ going​ through​ different​ intensive​ matches,​ the​ champions​ are​ found​ as​ follows:​ for​ the​ girl’s​ single​ category,​ Lanlana​ Tararudee​ of​ Thailand​ is​ the​ champion​ for​ week​ 1​ and​ 2​ consecutively.​ For​ the​ boy’s​ single​ category,​ Guntinun​ Soothinun-Opart​ of​ Thailand​ is​ the​ champion​ for​ week​ 1,​ whereas​ Kai​ Shiang​ Yang​ from​ Taipei​ is​ the​ champion​ for​ week​ 2.

In​ the​ girl’s​ double​ category,​ the​ week​ one’s​ champions​ are​ Mariya​ Krasakova​ of​ Russia​ and​ Wing​ Ka​ Lin​ of​ Hong​ Kong,​ while​ week​ two’s​ champions​ are​ Xinyue​ Hu​ of​ China​ and​ Minami​ Tani​ of​ Japan.​ In​ the​ boy’s​ double​ category,​ Possawat​ Akarapan​ and​ Prachaya​ Baigong​ of​ Thailand​ are​ the​ champions​ for​ the​ first​ week,​ whereas​ Peerapat​ Dedthonglang​ and​ Tanapatt​ Nirundorn​ of​ Thailand​ are​ the​ champions​ for​ the​ second​ week.​

All​ the​ champions​ along​ with​ other​ players​ will​ continue​ their​ journey​ to​ compete​ in​ ITF​ Junior​ Championship​ 2019​ in​ Singapore.

“We​ are​ happy​ that​ ABA​ Bank​ ITF​ Junior​ Series​ 2019​ tournament​ started​ successfully​ and​ brought​ many​ positive​ emotions.​ It​ was​ a​ real​ pleasure​ to​ watch​ the​ games​ and​ feel​ high​ competition​ level,”​ Igor​ Zimarev,​ Head​ of​ Marketing​ in​ ABA​ Bank​ commented​ after​ awarding​ the​ finalists.​ “Although​ our​ Cambodian​ players​ haven’t​ reached​ the​ final​ stage​ of​ the​ competition,​ we​ clearly​ see​ their​ ability​ and​ skills​ are​ improving​ in​ time.​ We​ hope​ that​ participation​ in​ such​ events​ will​ help​ them​ gain​ more​ practice​ and​ experience,​ and​ will​ bring​ championship​ in​ future,”​ he​ added.

“The​ two​ weeks​ of​ the​ ITF​ Junior​ Series​ 2019​ were​ a​ great​ success​ for​ us​ in​ many​ ways.​ Firstly,​ we​ received​ the​ highest​ number​ of​ Cambodian​ participants​ comparing​ to​ the​ past​ events,​ which​ we​ are​ very​ happy​ with.​ Secondly,​ the​ overall​ number​ of​ players​ was​ also​ high​ with​ a​ total​ of​ 111​ participants​ in​ the​ first​ week,”​ said​ Phalkun​ Mam,​ Technical​ Director​ at​ Tennis​ Cambodia.​

The​ last​ two​ tournaments​ of​ the​ ABA​ Bank​ ITF​ Junior​ Series​ 2019​ will​ be​ held​ within​ November​ and​ December.
