Euromoney magazine honors ABA with the “Best Bank in Cambodia 2020” title
20/Jul/2020
ABA Bank, a subsidiary of National Bank of Canada, announces today that it received the “Best Bank in Cambodia 2020” award by Euromoney, one of the world’s most prominent and trustworthy financial magazines.
Euromoney experts particularly highlighted enhancements of ABA Bank in digital business transformation, modernization of its ABA Mobile app, as well as expansion of the physical footprint and other major achievements over the past 12 months. The judging panel of Euromoney includes a team of senior journalists, chaired by the Euromoney’s editor, in conjunction with the editorial committee’s research into the banking and capital markets.
Askhat Azhikhanov, Chief Executive Officer of ABA commented on the award, “Receiving the seventh consecutive ‘Best Bank in Cambodia’ title from Euromoney is a considerable achievement for ABA Bank. Euromoney magazine lauded our attainments in digitalization of the local market, especially the efforts we put in our core product, the ABA Mobile app, whose customer base more than doubled over the last year.
“I would like to extend sincere gratitude to all our valued customers for their trust in us and confidence in the solutions we provide. Building an environment where customers get easy access to their finances while enjoying user-centric digital solutions remains our top priority,” Azhikhanov added.
In its write-up about ABA Bank's award this year, Euromoney's editor Clive Horwood commented, “In a country saturated with lenders, ABA stands strong above the crowd. Compared with its domestic peers, ABA Bank caught the digital bug relatively early.
“The Bank continues to invest in digital footprint. In 2019, it enhanced QR-code cashless payment service, ABA PAY, launched mobile savings and mobile fixed accounts, and rolled out international SWIFT money transfers in its ABA Mobile app,” Horwood built on.
The Euromoney’s “Best Bank in Cambodia 2020” award joins a host of trophies ABA has garnered previously. The Bank was named “Bank of the Year in Cambodia” by The Banker magazine in 2014, 2016, and 2019, and won “Cambodia’s Best Bank” title from Global Finance magazine in 2015-2020. The awards show the strong position of ABA Bank in the market and its desire to be the best bank possible for its customers.
