ABA sponsors “The Riel Contest” in celebration of Riel Day 2019

On Monday, 25 March 2019, the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) hosted the “Riel Day” event to celebrate the 39th anniversary of the re-introduction of Khmer Riel at AEON Mall Sen Sok City. The aim of the event is to raise people’s awareness about the history and the importance of Cambodian currency, as well as to update on the recent development of the riel used in the economy. The event was attended by the representatives from the ministries, banking and financial institutions, enterprises, research institutes, and universities.
As part of its commitment to support Khmer Riel, ABA Bank became the sponsor of “The Riel Contest” and offered 50 vouchers for new Savings Accounts without opening balance fee and with 40,000 KHR in each account. The contest was organized by NBC in collaboration with The Phnom Penh Post newspaper and other entities as part of campaign to educate Cambodians on the usage of Riel and remind people of the history of the currency.
The winner of the contest can now obtain their prize by opening a new Savings Account in Khmer Riels with dedicated ABA off-site account opening officer. In addition, our officer can visit location of any other person interested in opening an ABA account in USD or KHR.
