ABA Bank, the largest Cambodian commercial bank1, has shown support for national para-athletes by participating in the BeyondTheGames’ Folding Heart Campaign. The initiative aims at raising funds to support Cambodian athletes at the Para Games 2023 and to promote awareness of the 32nd SEA Games and Para Games 2023, which will be hosted in Cambodia for the first time ever.
As per the initiative, people in Cambodia are invited to fold one million of origami paper hears and set a new world record. ABA is contributing both in cash and in-kind, whereas the Bank provides $30,000 to the project while its staff from all branches have already folded over 10,000 paper hearts. Customers in Phnom Penh can also participate in the campaign by folding hearts at ABA 12/7 branches, where the boxes and papers are placed.
During the launch of The Million Hearts project, H.E. Hun Many, President of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), said, "BeyondTheGames is a campaign that gives everyone a chance to express their pride in the Kingdom. We aim to create a spirit of unity and strength and show what volunteerism and dedication can achieve. It will play a part in creating memories that will last long after the Games have ended."
ABA has also pledged $1.5 million in cash and in-kind sponsorship to support the Cambodian national team to compete in the SEA Games 2023, which will be held in Cambodia from 5-17 May, and the ASEAN Para Games from June 3-9.
