The Banker praises ABA as Cambodia's Bank of the Year for the fifth time
07/Dec/2022
ABA Bank, the largest Cambodian commercial bank1, attained the prestigious "Bank of the Year 2022 in Cambodia" award from The Banker, the world's premier banking and financial affairs publication of Financial Times Group (London, UK) for the fifth time. The magazine celebrated and announced the winners this year at its annual ceremony in London.
ABA Bank was highly praised for overhauling its consumer banking services and its strategic focus on innovative technologies and digital services.
In 2022, the Bank significantly enhanced its mobile banking application to offer even more seamless service. The app received the ABA QR feature integrated with the Cambodian national KHQR code standard. It allows ABA customers to receive payments from other local banks within the National Bank of Cambodia's Bakong payment system free of charge.
The bank's customers who are Payroll users can now benefit from Salary Loan in ABA Mobile. This feature provides instant financing for personal use with no collateral requirements and offers the option of full loan repayment at any time.
Recently, ABA introduced Junior Account on its app. It provides kids 10-17 years of age access to modern banking and cashless facilities through their own ABA Mobile app. Junior Account encourages children to build healthy financial habits early and understand the importance of saving.
The judges also praised the Bank's launch of the first in Cambodia self-service Card Machines. Customers of the bank are now able to order their international and local bank cards from the ABA Mobile app and then issue them from ABA Card Machine in under two minutes. The service proved very popular among ABA customers who have already issued 200,000 cards via Card Machines.
Askhat Azhikhanov, CEO of ABA Bank, acknowledged the accolade, "We are delighted to be recognized as Cambodia's Bank of the Year 2022. The decision of The Banker's judging panel praises our aspiration to bring Cambodian banking service to a new level."
"We sincerely thank all our customers for their trust while banking with us. ABA will surely continue implementing its strategy with the client-centric approach when developing new services and platforms," he added.
Joy Macknight, The Banker editor, commented on the occasion, "Congratulations to ABA Bank for winning the award as Cambodia's Bank of the Year 2022. Over the review period, the Bank has successfully updated its consumer banking services and developed new features such as the ABA KHQR in its banking app, allowing fast and secure account-to-account transfers."
