ABA reaffirms support for Smile Cambodia's free surgical missions
25/Mar/2026
As a longstanding partner of the Smile Cambodia Organization, ABA Bank proudly served as the Platinum Sponsor for its free surgical care to those born with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial deformities. With a $20,000 contribution, ABA aims to support Smile Cambodia throughout 2026 in its calling to transform lives and bring new smiles to individuals across the country.
The latest mission was held at the Siem Reap Provincial Referral Hospital, where teams of medical professionals – including volunteers and surgeons from China and Hong Kong – dedicated their time and expertise to screen and treat patients with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial deformities, all free of charge. By the end of the mission, the team successfully performed 26 surgeries, changing the lives of patients and their families.
In addition to the mission, ABA staff also joined Smile Cambodia's annual "Walk for a Smile" event. A total of 90 staff from the Siem Reap and Banteay Meanchey branches participated, celebrating the success and showing solidarity with the cause.
Yin Chindapheakday, ABA's Siem Reap Provincial Manager, stated, "ABA has been a continuous supporter of Smile Cambodia, whether by joining its annual events, amplifying patient screening calls online, or sponsoring its missions. This contribution goes beyond monetary support; it highlights our commitment to ensuring new smiles are granted to as many people as possible."
Chan Kok Choy, Executive Director of Smile Cambodia, commented, “Smile Cambodia’s activities since 2002 had created awareness on the availability of treatment for cleft patients. Since then, we had treated most of the backlog cases. From now, what we are seeing are the new cases, mainly newborn and hence, the number of cases is gradually decreasing. We appreciate corporate sponsors with strong CSR emphasis like ABA Bank for their continuing support and we are expanding our activities to include treating other facial deformities like microtia, dental treatment and speech therapy for cleft patients, burns and related cases.”
ABA continues to stand alongside Smile Cambodia to invest in initiatives that restore hope and empower community wellbeing.
