12/Aug/2020
ABA Bank, a leading Cambodian commercial bank in digital finances, announces that it received the “Mobile Banking and Payment Initiative of the Year in Cambodia” award at the Asian Banking and Finance (ABF) magazine’s Retail Banking Awards 2020.
The award was given to ABA for maintaining digital financial technology for the benefit of its customers and the significant advancements it introduced to ABA Mobile, which became the most popular banking app in the market.
In particular, the judging panel praised the launch on ABA Mobile of several money transfer channels that now allow users to send money internationally through SWIFT, Ria and DBP instant money transfers. Additionally, the bank introduced account opening on the app and extended the support of Khmer riel in its mobile banking products.
ABA also significantly empowered its QR-code payment feature, ABA PAY, by enabling static QR payments in USD and KHR. The acceptance of QR payments was boosted, and now more than 20,000 merchants across the country accept cashless payments made via ABA Mobile.
Askhat Azhikhanov, CEO of ABA Bank commented: “This precious award confirms the propriety of the mobile banking strategy the Bank adopted six years ago. We see now that more and more Cambodians choose ABA because of the convenient, easy-to-use, and secure mobile app.”
“I thank each customer for their choice and assure them that we will continue introducing advanced features on ABA Mobile to enrich the customer experience,” he added.
Asian Banking and Finance editor Timothy Charlton said: “ABA Bank has shown strategy in maintaining digital financial technology for the benefit of its customers, for instance, the ABA Mobile app, which is the most popular mobile app in Cambodia. It was accomplished by allowing an array of impressive and highly convenient services, including SWIFT money transfers, online account applications, and an enhanced cashless QR-code payment feature with more merchants accepting ABA Mobile app payments in the Kingdom.”
“We are delighted to provide the award for the Mobile Banking and Payment Initiative of the Year in Cambodia because of the rapid advancement of its mobile app transactions thanks to its impressive payment ecosystem,” he added.
The ABF Retail Banking Awards honours outstanding banks that have introduced groundbreaking retail banking products and services that proved to be industry game changers.
