Elevating dreams in Takeo: ABA Bank's impactful school renovation project
04/Jan/2024
Sok An Thnol Bombek High School, nestled in the heart of Takeo province, stood resiliently with over 1,200 students and 66 dedicated teachers. In course of time, the aging condition of some classroom buildings presented a challenging situation.
Broken windows and doors allowed rainwater to disrupt classes during the rainy season, forcing early closures and leaving belongings unprotected. The struggle extended to shattered desks and stained whiteboards, creating additional barriers to effective learning.
In response to this educational plight, ABA Bank took a step forward, contributing 45,000,000 Riels to breathe new life into Sok An Thnol Bombek High School. The metamorphosis was nothing short of transformative. Two classroom buildings, once marred by decay, underwent a comprehensive renovation.
The installation of new windows and doors shielded students from the elements, creating a conducive learning atmosphere. Fresh whiteboards and 50 new study desks not only rejuvenated the physical space but also reignited the flame of possibility within the student body.
Marking achievement
In December, a joyous handover ceremony unfolded at the school, graced by representatives from the provincial office of education, ABA Bank's management and staff, the school's principal, and the students.
The Provincial Office of Education hailed ABA's initiative as vital for educational institutions. The impactful contribution not only renovated physical structures but also uplifted the spirit of students and educators alike.
Loch Sreynich, a student of Sok An Thnol Bombek High School, eagerly expressed her gratitude for the transformed classrooms that erased past struggles. “I’m so excited to finally get to study in a fully furnished classroom like others. Thanks to ABA Bank for this generous contribution.”
Dedication to community progress
Ly Vithiea, Chief Human Resources Officer at ABA Bank, underscored the institution's commitment to ongoing support for schools across Cambodia. Beyond financial services, ABA recognizes its responsibility to actively contribute to community growth.
"We are privileged to contribute to this impactful initiative for the community we serve. ABA Bank recognizes the significance of investing in education as a vital stride towards our nation's development.”
“This initiative is not an isolated effort but part of a sustained and long-term project. Following our successful support for the Svay Rieng school project in early August last year, Sok An Thnol Bombek High School continues this streak. The Bank is committed to sustainable CSR programs and plans to contribute to more schools in our pipeline, believing in continuous support for human capital advancement," Ly added.
As a socially responsible corporate entity, ABA remains steadfast in its commitment to empower local communities and contribute to a brighter future for Cambodia's youth.
