ABA Bank now supports KHQR for greater convenience of its QR payments
ABA Bank, the leading Cambodian commercial bank in digital finances, announces that KHQR, an initiative led by the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) to promote wider use of mobile retail payments, is now fully enabled in the ABA PAY payment system.
Through this development, all users of mobile applications of banks-members of Bakong will be able to make payments by scanning ABA PAY QR codes at more than 150,000 ABA merchants across the country. The KHQR payment service in ABA PAY aims to bring greater convenience for both payers and payees through QR codes that become scannable by the ABA Mobile app, Bakong app, and all other Bakong members’ banking apps and e-wallets.
If you are a merchant or business owner and want to accept cashless payments from clients of many banks and MFIs via a single QR code, download PayWay Mobile from Apple App Store or Google Play Store on your smartphone, request online for a printed ABA PAY KHQR on our Payment Collection Service page, or use ABA ID in your ABA Mobile app.
“We are delighted to announce the official start of the ABA KHQR payment service, which will streamline the efficiency of cashless payments using QR code. In addition to the convenience we bring to businesses, our ABA Mobile users can also make QR payments with ease without worrying if the business carries an ABA QR code. With most of the banks in the country already supporting KHQR, the only banking app you need is ABA Mobile, where you can pay at almost any shop, restaurant, and business locally,” said Sanzhar Abdullayev, Chief Card and E-Payments Officer of ABA Bank.
KHQR is an essential element of the NBC’s Project Bakong, an integrated payment and money transfer system based on blockchain technology. This payment service offers a mutual payment facility interoperability across all participating financial institutions in the Project Bakong.
The adoption of the KHQR standard further solidifies ABA’s commitment to supporting NBC’s efforts in promoting payment system innovation, financial inclusion, and digital economy transformation of the country.
