ABA supports Media Awareness Campaign to strengthen financial literacy in Cambodia
ABA Bank, the largest commercial bank in Cambodia1, proudly became Gold Sponsor of the Media Awareness Campaign 2023. The campaign aims at strengthening financial literacy in Cambodia by providing journalists with essential knowledge and understanding of the country's financial landscape. It was organized by the Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC), Cambodia Microfinance Association of Cambodia (CMA), and the Insurance Association of Cambodia in collaboration with the Club of Cambodian Journalists (CCJ).
The Media Awareness Campaign focuses on comprehensive training courses for journalists on the "Foundations of the Financial Sector in Cambodia". At the event, certificates of completion were handed to 31 reporters and 19 editors, summing up to a total of fifty journalists who actively participated in the four-week training program.
In particular, it worked on journalists' understanding of the financial sector, cultivating positive relationships between banking and financial institutions and the media community and equipping journalists with essential knowledge of the banking sector terminology and the roles of key stakeholders.
The closing ceremony of the training course was held on 14 September 2023 and presided by H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information, with the participation of delegations from ABC, CMA, IAC, and other distinguished guests.
