ABA Bank sponsors Startup Weekend Cambodia

ABA Bank proudly sponsored the annual Startup Weekend event powered by Google for entrepreneurs program. The activity was dedicated to education projects and held on 16-18 September 2016 in Phnom Penh.

The event brought a diverse group of passionate people within a certain time frame who aim at making positive impact on education, allowing them to share ideas, form teams, build products and launch education startups.

“Based on our core values and mission, we are proud to support the Startup Weekend’s Education event, because we believe that it will inspire bright-minded people to come up with creative business plan to help improving education in Cambodia,” Ms. Chap Chandina, Public Relations Manager of ABA Bank said. “This is a successful continuation of the first activity dedicated to the women entrepreneurship, where we also supported new initiatives and ideas”, she added.

Earlier in May, Startup Weekend Women Edition managed to have around 50 registered participants, who presented 18 ideas, which then were shortlisted and assigned to seven teams. Apart from sponsoring the program, member of ABA team was one of the mentors helping the teams to work on the ideas, providing fundamental business guides, and developing and structuring their business model.

By the end of the year, ABA Bank will support another two events of Startup Weekend Cambodia (General Edition and Software Development Edition).
