On March 19-21, 2019 Louis Vachon, the President and CEO of National Bank of Canada paid a visit to ABA Bank’s Head Office and other premises of the Bank. It is the third arrival of Mr Vachon since 2017 and shows strong commitment of National Bank of Canada to the development of ABA Bank.

During this visit, Louis Vachon participated in ABA’s yearly Board of Directors meeting along with respective Board committees, such as Audit, Compliance, Governance, Risk Committee, and others.

In addition, the CEO of National Bank of Canada held meetings with various departments within ABA. As such, on March 19 Mr Vachon visited the newly opened Business Banking Center of ABA Bank and Head Office’s Operational Hall.

Located on the first floor of ABA’s renovated Head Office building along Preah Sihanouk boulevard in Phnom Penh, ABA Business Banking Center provides quality banking services to the growing segment of SMEs, large companies, as well as multinational and emerging local corporations operating in Cambodia. The Center also offers parking lots, waiting area, customer service counters as well as private rooms for one-on-one consultation with the staff specifically focused on working with businesses.

Head Office’s Operational Hall of ABA is a flagship branch with extended working hours schedule. It is open from 8 am until 8 pm, Monday to Sunday, becoming a very convenient bank spot for people residing or working in capital’s Boeung Keng Kang area.

The same day, Mr Vachon participated in the launch of ABA Training Center and held a meeting with the management team of the Bank. During the meeting, he reiterated National Bank of Canada’s deep focus on people who form the main asset of the National Bank of Canada Group.

“There are many reasons National Bank of Canada decided to invest in ABA. One of them is future of Cambodia, as we saw a very bright future for the country and its people. Also, we share the same views on how to run a bank and what is essential about banking. What we agreed on very quickly is that banking is about people. Talent has always been and remains a differentiating factor in banking industry. That is why we are investing in training facility here, because it is very important to our business, and we will continue to do so,” stated Louis Vachon.

“From myself and the Board of Directors of National Bank, a big thank you for everything you’ve done and continue to do on a daily basis. And a big thank you on very impressive financial results,” he added.

The CEO of ABA Bank, Mr Askhat Azhikhanov commented on the launch of Training Center, “Here at ABA, we always state that our core asset is our people. And we constantly need to invest in the quality of this asset by improving the knowledge and expertise of employees on our vision, mission, and values, on our products and services, as well as on the new trends in the market and technologies. To deliver this knowledge, we need a proper infrastructure. That is why we built this spacious Training Center as our needs are continuously growing.”

ABA Training Center provides all necessary facilities for successful knowledge dissemination among the Bank staff. The building is equipped with numerous training rooms, meeting rooms, vast parking area, and pantry zone where staff can relax and refresh between training sessions. In total, the Center can accommodate more than 350 people training on more than 50 trainings and courses currently provided by ABA Bank to its staff.

On March 21, Louis Vachon completed the visit to ABA Bank and returned to Canada.
