Enhancing support of education of young Cambodians and in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy, ABA Bank became a sponsor of two significant events held last weekend in Phnom Penh.

On 14 October 2017, ABA supported the Orientation on Major Selection and Career Development organized by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The event took place at Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC).

The objective of the workshop is to provide guidance and roadmap to young Cambodian students and fresh graduates as major selection has significant impact on their career prospect. The workshop attracted 309 participants including high school graduates, university students, first time jobbers, speakers, as well as representatives from JICA and Minster of Education of Youth and Sports (MoEYS).

“First time jobbers always face issues to select the right career because they lack of right information when chose their major in university. Hence, this workshop is important for students to obtain information, experience and guidance from speakers for their major and career selection. This workshop also aligns with our current national education policy. We should have more workshops especially on the provincial level,” said H.E. Im Koch, Secretary of State for MoEYS.

On 15 October 2017, ABA became the Platinum sponsor of the 5th National Art Competition organized by Global Art Cambodia. The event was held at Himawari Hotel with more than 300 kids along with their families joining a one-day competition. Young artists of 4 – 18 years old participated in the competition under this year’s theme “My Dream City”. Being a Platinum sponsor, ABA Bank presented free air tickets to the winners in three age categories.

“We are glad to support such initiative as it raises young artists’ creativity and imagination. This competition in particular encourages young children to build up their confidence and prepares them for the next stage of this international competition,” said Igor Zimarev, Head of Marketing Division at ABA Bank.

The competition was divided into three categories according to the age groups. The winners in each group received flight tickets, trophies, certificates, and gift bags, while consolation prizes were also given to the participants and the runners up.

The Global Art Competition winners – Chea Laksmi (6), Tang Guech Chou (9), and VannaReth Thearoth (13) – will represent Cambodia in the International Art Competition in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) on 3 December 2017 competing with other children from 17 countries.
