ABA funnels donated funds to help another 316 families
21/May/2020
On 18-20 May 2020, ABA Bank delivered emergency food supplies to hundreds of families who were affected economically by the current COVID-19 outbreak. Each of 316 families in three provinces received urgent food aid consisting of 15 kg of rice, 10 cans of fish, and one box of instant noodles. Additionally, canisters with the handwash gel were provided for their general hygiene and well-being improvement.
The activity became a part of COVID-19 Disaster Relief Project initiated by CBN Cambodia, registered international NGO, and covered the following areas:
Kandal province
- Toul Sala Village, Saang Commune, Saang District;
- Prek Tachor Village, Svay Broteal Commune, Saang District.
Kampong Speu province
- Anlong Purpeay Village, Krang Ampil Commune, Somrong Tong District.
Kampong Chhnang province
- Toul Roka Village, Melom Commune, Boribo District;
- Toul Ksach Village, Chrey Bak Commune, Rolea Paear District.
For this aid, the Bank funneled the money donated by its valued customers during the anti-COVID-19 fundraising campaign initiated in the ABA Mobile app on March 26. As we informed earlier, the campaign received an overwhelming response from ABA customers. On April 2, the Bank representatives passed $18,000 to the Ministry of Health for their purchase of medical supplies to mitigate the spread of the virus in Cambodia.
Seeing the significant progress in the treatment of COVID-infected people since then, the Bank decided to spend the remaining fundraised amount of $9,504.45 to help the 316 families who struggle for their livelihoods after losing the primary source of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We at ABA Bank thank each ABA customer who participated in the fundraising campaign and donated funds that were used to fight the spread of the virus and to help those who fell vulnerable due to the economic slowdown caused by the virus outbreak.
Let’s stand together towards a healthier society!
