Upholding​ its​ CSRs​ policy​ and​ to​ contribute​ in​ improving​ education​ in​ rural​ Cambodia,​ ABA​ proudly​ joined​ force​ with​ Junior​ Chamber​ International​ (JCI)​ Cambodia​ to​ organize​ an​ event​ called​ “Bag​ to​ School”​ at​ Andong​ Svay​ primary​ school​ in​ Pursat’s​ Krokor​ district​ on​ 01​ July​ 2018.

Bag​ to​ School​ has​ been​ implemented​ for​ the​ past​ six​ consecutive​ years,​ and​ this​ year​ ABA​ is​ very​ pleased​ to​ be​ a​ part​ of​ such​ an​ inspiring​ social​ cause​ for​ the​ very​ first​ time.

“We​ ABA​ Bank​ are​ delighted​ to​ be​ here​ today​ along​ with​ other​ sponsors​ and​ JCI​ team​ to​ distribute​ study​ materials,​ inaugurate​ the​ school​ facilities,​ and​ plant​ trees​ for​ Andong​ Svay​ primary​ school,”​ said​ Khengly​ Chhou,​ Pursat​ Branch​ Manager​ of​ ABA​ Bank,​ during​ his​ opening​ remarks.

“We​ hope​ that​ this​ contribution​ will​ serve​ as​ a​ stepping-stone​ for​ the​ children​ here​ today​ and​ many​ more​ generations​ to​ come​ for​ them​ to​ reach​ further,​ have​ better​ future,​ and​ improve​ their​ lives,”​ he​ added.

230​ students​ from​ two​ primary​ schools​ –​ Andong​ Svay​ and​ Roleap​ Srongam​ –​ were​ provided​ with​ school​ supplies​ for​ one​ full​ year,​ and​ a​ new​ pumped​ well,​ a​ volleyball​ court,​ an​ entrance​ gate,​ a​ flag​ pole,​ and​ several​ trees​ were​ constructed​ and​ planted​ within​ Andong​ Svay​ primary​ school​ vicinity.​ Each​ classroom​ was​ equipped​ with​ new​ desks,​ chairs,​ trash​ bins,​ maps,​ and​ posters,​ and​ a​ mobile​ library​ was​ also​ provided​ in​ order​ to​ stimulate​ readership​ with​ over​ 100​ reading​ and​ coloring​ books.

The​ event​ was​ concluded​ with​ some​ outdoor​ activities​ such​ as​ reading​ competition,​ puzzle​ games,​ volleyball​ matches​ and​ more​ to​ engage​ students​ and​ to​ emphasize​ the​ importance​ of​ teamwork.

About​ Bag​ to​ School:
Bag​ to​ school​ is​ a​ project​ founded​ by​ JCI​ Marina​ Singapore​ and​ JCI​ Cambodia-Phnom​ Penh​ aiming​ at​ promoting​ the​ primary​ education​ in​ the​ remote​ districts​ in​ Cambodia.​ Bag​ to​ School​ raises​ funds​ and​ materials​ to​ deliver​ to​ poor​ students​ in​ rural​ areas.​ In​ 2018,​ Bag​ to​ School​ aimed​ to​ provide​ opportunities​ for​ students​ to​ access​ study​ materials,​ suitable​ classrooms,​ friendly​ study​ environment,​ and​ good​ library​ materials​ needed,​ which​ will​ help​ expand​ the​ desire​ in​ learning​ and​ knowledge​ of​ students​ effectively.​ With​ meaningful​ activities,​ students​ will​ enjoy​ and​ be​ inspired​ to​ love​ school​ and​ education.
