ABA Bank donates 1 million

ABA Bank, Cambodia’s leading private financial institution and a subsidiary of National Bank of Canada, proudly announces its charitable contribution of one million US Dollars (approximately equivalent to 4 billion Khmer Riels) to support the Royal Government’s efforts to stop the spread of the outbreak caused by the “February 20 community incident”.

The Bank’s proposal for donation was considered and appreciated by Samdech Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia. In the Letter of Appreciation to ABA Bank he stated: “On behalf of the Royal Government and the people of Cambodia, I would like to express my deepest appreciation to ABA Bank’s management team for the donation worth USD 1,000,000 to the Royal Government for the support of the fight against COVID-19 breaking out from the February 20 Community Event, which is spreading at the present time. I would like to express my sincere admiration to ABA Bank’s management for their generosity.”

Askhat Azhikhanov, the CEO of ABA Bank, commented: “Being an active part of the Cambodian business society, we at ABA Bank support the government’s efforts to protect the well-being of Cambodian people, especially during the Covid outbreak. That being said, we are honored to make this contribution to empower the continuous fight against the spread of the disease and will continue helping communities in the future.”

“Aside from financial assistance, the Bank expresses commitment to its customers via modern digital and self-banking solutions that support them and allow live full financial life in pandemic and even lockdown times,” Azhikhanov added.

Following its Mission and Corporate Values, ABA Bank is committed to support the initiatives aimed at combating Covid-19. Since the beginning of the pandemic in Cambodia, ABA has been organizing fundraising events and donating funds through the initiatives of the National Bank of Cambodia and the Association of Banks in Cambodia.

In addition to monetary support, the Bank’s advanced ABA Mobile banking application was used as a fundraising tool in Prime Minister’s initiative to purchase COVID-19 vaccine.
