05/Jun/2019
ABA Bank, member of the National Bank of Canada Group, sponsored the construction of ten underground water wells, providing clean water to rural communities of Kampong Cham and Tboung Khmum provinces.
Managed under Clean Water Project of CBN Cambodia, a registered international non-profit organization, ABA Bank’s donation contributes to providing distant villagers an access to reliable source of clean safe water for their daily consumption. The villagers also received an educational training on hygiene to protect themselves from various diseases in everyday life.
Commenting on the occasion, Igor Zimarev, Head of Marketing in ABA said, “This year, the country witnessed severe drought with certain parts of the country experiencing lack of drinking water. Having observed that, we decided to help building water wells for the villagers in several provinces.”
“What is more, disregarding the season or the amount of rain, it is always better and healthier to drink water that is not contaminated and that is purified enough for normal consumption. By participating in this project, we at ABA wanted to make real contribution to local communities as stated in our core values. We hope that it will help them live a healthier life, using water wisely for their personal needs and home agriculture,” added Mr Zimarev.
CBN Cambodia have delivered humanitarian aids in various provinces since 1998. Clean Water Project is one among the organization’s activities, aiming to save people from diseases that are caused from using contaminated water.
“Providing clean water resource is to save lives,” said Nhean Piseth Oum, National Director of CBN Cambodia. “Our purpose is to see Cambodian people having enough clean water.
