ABA Bank together with other businesses sponsored the 1st Junior Tennis Tournament in Cambodia that was held on October 24-29 at the National Tennis Center. The event was hosted by Tennis Federation of Cambodia and marked the new era of development of tennis movement in the country.

In total, 93 players joined the tournament aged from 13 to 18 years. The winner in the boy’s single category was Diego Garcia Dalisay, 17, from the Philippines while the girl’s single category winner became Charmaine Seah, 16, from Singapore. The winners will earn 30 points each and can go towards their Junior World Ranking.

"It is always exciting to support such activities; sport brings good health, friendship and discipline to the society," said Igor Zimarev, ABA’s Head of Marketing Division. “ABA Bank's support of this event is an integral part of the CSR policy and core values. It directly aims to make a positive contribution to Cambodia while playing a beneficial role in the lives of the customers as well as for the future of the country as a whole.”

Hosting such a big event is not only giving the experience for the country to host such events, but also give new experience to the seven Cambodian players to taste their first international competition at home. The First Junior Tennis Tournament shall create a pathway for them to step up to the national team.

Mr. Tep Rithyvit, President of Tennis Federation of Cambodia, commented on this occasion: "The increase of sport activities has a huge milestone for Cambodian sports. This event will also increase the international recognition of Cambodia." He also highlighted the importance of focusing on supporting children’s sport and introducing the habit of playing from younger age.
